Ukraine’s History
Ukraine’s history has been marred with constant civil strife, war, political unrest and so on. Even to this day Ukraine has wildly enthusiastic political fervour and Ukrainians have taken the streets to riot against any unjust or unfair political decisions or electoral outcomes. Although as an overall nation, Ukraine has always been on calm and inactive nation in the eyes of the world due to its serene and mildew landscapes. But Ukrainian people have been vocal about matters of political concern. Such a radical political outlook has thus framed a system of governance that is a unique in its own way.
Parliament
Ukraine elects its president who by popular vote after a term of every five years who acts as their official head of state. Parliament in Ukraine devises a scheme of action for the formation of Cabinet of Ministers which is presided over by the prime minister of the nation. President retains almost unanimous authority over the selection of ministers of few major departments such as the minister of foreign affairs. Ukrainian politics, despites its past, has off late become quite democratic and fair elections are held in an orderly fashion
Governance
Ukrainian politics is remarkable in a few aspects. The distinctive separation of powers in the Ukrainian politics is a bit dubious, the three branches being Executive, judicial and Legislative. Supreme Court holds a great degree of power and dominance in the political scenario. There is also a healthy amount of decentralization and local government has proliferated to a wide extent in Ukraine
Judiciary
Like most nations, Ukraine has a wide and multi-tier judicial system that exercises power according to its place in the judicial hierarchy. In spite of having improved immensely from its condition since Ukrainian independence, the judicial system is ridden with many problems. Ukraine has gotten been known for having a high incarceration rate; some of the highest in the world rankings.
Russian is spoken by a majority of citizens in Ukraine even by its native residents. Despite having been an epicentre of clash of citizens and government, Ukraine still has a decent quality of life for its citizens.
